You are buying 12+ fresh hatching eggs from our three Sapphire Sky hens here at Raptor Ridge Farm in Bradford, Vermont.
Sapphire Sky is a newer designer hybrid from Townline Hatchery that carries Cream Legbar blue egg genetics along with their signature tufted crest. The hybrid can lay anywhere from olive green to brown depending on which genes each individual bird inherits — and our three hens all landed on the blue side of the genetic coin flip. They lay a consistent bluish-green egg that's on the rarer end of what this hybrid produces.
The rooster covering these hens is our Rhode Island Red, which means the chicks from these eggs will be F1 olive eggers. About 50% of the pullets will lay olive green eggs themselves (blue base shell from mom + brown overlay from dad's genetics). The other 50% will lay brown. Either outcome adds a colored egg layer to your flock.
